Our History
Generations Church was formerly known as North City Apostolic Church, and then more recently as North City Connections Church.
Founded in 1988 under the leadership of Ps Noel and Ruth Bowker, and under the covering of the Apostolic Churches of NZ, this church has had an exciting history of pioneering, building and fruitful ministry over 23 years.
After meeting in, renting and owning various properties in the early years, the church began building their current spacious and well-appointed facilities in an idyllic country setting at the end of Cate Rd, Rototuna in 1999. At first it might have seemed their property was out in the country, on the outskirts of the city, but their vision, foresight and wise planning has proven brilliant, as the city has spread northward. The northern part of the city is now one of the fastest growing areas of Hamilton City, with much housing, community development and exciting plans ahead. The northern part of Cate Rd is now known as North City Rd and the church property is being embraced and surroundedby a burgeoning community of new schools, residential development and population growth close to the new Waikato Expressway.
God has blessed this faithful, hardworking and visionary group of people, many of whom have journeyed with the church since it’s inception. At the beginning of 2011 Ps Noel and Ruth moved to the Hibiscus Coast to take up a new pastoral role, while Pastors Ian and Annette Dixon moved from Auckland’s North Shore to become the new leaders here. We are so grateful for our founding leadership, and look forward with great anticipation to this next, new exciting phase of the journey.
